Retirement Plan

Life Insurance Plan

  • Basic Life Insurance of one or two times salary up to $250,000
  • Cost is only fourteen cents per thousand of coverage
  • Optional life insurance up to two times basic insurance up to a maximum of $500,000. Employee pays full premium.
  • May elect up to 5 times the amount of free dependent life insurance and pay the premium. First free level is $5,000 for your spouse and $2,500 for each dependent child. Requires participation in the basic life insurance plan.
  • Living benefits if doctor certifies less than 1 year to live. Can receive up to half of basic life insurance while living.
  • Free retiree life insurance if you meet minimum qualifications and elect immediate retirement benefit.
  • See your Human Resources Office to enroll in the life insurance plan within 31 days of employment or during the open enrollment period.

Long Term Care Insurance

  • Available under guaranteed issue for new employees or anytime with evidence of insurability
  • Discounted group rates by payroll deduction
  • Premiums do not increase with age
  • Coverage continues unchanged after you terminate employment or retire
  • Options available for $100, $140, $180, $220 or $260 per day nursing home care benefit and home care at 50% of the nursing home care benefit

Annual Leave

Annual leave will accrue for all hours in a pay status up to a maximum of 40 hours per week, at the following rates:

Regular employees with less than 3 years of creditable service - 5 percent (4 hours)

Regular employees with 3 years but less than 15 years of creditable service- 7 1/2 percent (6 hours), except for the final biweekly period of the leave year, it will accrue at the rate of 12 1/2 percent of the total non-overtime hours.

Regular employees with more than 15 years of creditable service- 10 percent (8 hours) less than 3 years of creditable service will accrue 4 hours of annual leave for every 80 hours worked.

Sick Leave

Regular employees earn sick leave to be credited to their account at the end of each pay period, at the rate of 5 percent (4 hours) of the total hours in a pay status up to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
